30 Day Movie Challenge-Day 4: Favorite Horror Movie
The Wolfman 1941
This movie started it all for me. Yes it is a very old movie, black and white and all. However it is a true classic and I think any horror movie fan will agree. I love horror movies, I get such a thrill out of getting scared and when I’m not scared most of the time the good ones are very good and entertaining as hell. I was about 3 years old when my Dad showed me this movie, and being 3 years old not knowing any better, it scared the shit out of me! Yet after I watched it I wasn’t able to stop watching it, I loved it, it opened up a whole new world of horror for me. Especially werewolves, I would not have the love and fascination for werewolf movies and lore if not for this film. Lon Chaney Jr truly deserves the role as horror movie legend. The movie is very dated with effects and make up and such, however it brings more important things. Unlike horror movies today with the emphasis on blood, gore, and special effects, this movie allows you to see all the more important qualities of an excellent horror movie. The music, the foggy eerie dark forests, all gives that ambience that makes one truly afraid. It also brought out one of my favorite quotes: “Even a man who is pure of heart and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolf’s bane blooms and the autumn moon is bright.”
